The future is already here. It always is. We only realise it when it’s too late. Always hoping tomorrow and the next job and the next decade will be better. Very easily forgetting that mortality is sneaking up on us as we speak.
Who would have thought we would have universal connectivity to all the knowledge in the world and yet would not be able to tell real from fake, right from wrong and passion from hatred. That we could borrow billions from ourselves without ever repaying and still keep half the world starving. That science would take us even past gravity but we would still be able to kill in the name of God. That we could have all the comforts imaginable but still not find a reason to get out of bed.
The future is already here. But we mistake our deathly dissatisfaction with everything as optimism for tomorrow. There is no tomorrow, only today and it is always a miracle. There is no other way to receive each morning.
